Working Style
Senior engineering roles often get split across two or three hires: someone for the models, one for the infrastructure and one for the delivery, because such combinations are hard to find. I've spent fifteen years deliberately keeping all three sides current. As a result, I offer strategic thinking rooted in production reality, not only whiteboards. The practical version: I read codebases on day one. I have a view on the architecture by the end of the first week. I earn the team's trust by the end of the first sprint: through technical depth, not positional authority. Example: shipped a GenAI monitoring system to production within first quarter, replacing a commercial product and saving $180K+ annually. In a separate project - add another 50K+ USD annual license saving through architectural feedback. I've been every role in an engineering org at some point: IC, tech lead, architect, manager. That arc matters when you need strategic direction and close-to-the-metal execution in the same person. I leave reusable patterns behind (CDK modules, CI/CD templates, ADRs) rather than a dependency on me.

When Voice AI Meets the Suburbs
VoiceAI is hard - a bot can transcribe "Geelong" easily, or could mis-spell it to "Jlong" (based on how it's pronounced by locals). High accuracy in specific domains (medicine, suburbs, aviation) is the hard part. This is a field note on the gap in between.
